Territory
Giulianova is in the province of Teramo, and is one of the most easy-going and attractive areas of the Abruzzo region. The beach is one of the mnost enchanting of the Adriatic coast, and has been assigned the Bandiera Blu clean beach symbol. The town maintains its rectangular shape from its foundation, although most of the old buildings have since gone, and the new ones have widened its margins so that it sweeps gently from the hills to the seaside. The town is situated on the Adriatic coast between the river Salinello to the north and the river Tordino to the south. There are three main areas, the Lido which comprises the beach area and is tourist-oriented; the Annunziata to the south part where the Roman colony (Castrum Novum) originated with the Paese, the historic centre that develops along the hill top, and Colleranesco, divided into two parts, the contrada Case di Trento and contrada Casale that spreads from the urban centre towards the agricultural area near the hills.
